Someone's getting married...

Image
...and it's me! Mike proposed to me last Sunday, March 16th. Apparently he'd had the ring since January but wanted to wait until before I went to see my friends in Arizona (where I'm headed tomorrow). I could explain how he did it....or you can watch for yourselves in this convenient youtube clip. (I love how pretty much everything in my life has been recorded for posterity...ah growing up in the digital age) And yes, he did call me a bitch at the end. It was a joke, we were at an improv show! Actually it was very sweet, because my mom and brother and a bunch of my close friends were there. I really appreciated them being there for the big moment. Anyway, the wedding won't be for about 2 years, and no I have no other plans. I know who I want to be in it, but I've only told one of those people. I was sick monday and yesterday, so today is really the first day I'm getting around to getting the word out. And tomorrow I'll be in 80 degree weather enjoyi...

BEES???

If you are awesome, you will get that tv show reference. And if you need a clue, it's just a click away. Speaking of tv shows, I've started re-watching Buffy with Andrew, aka manwhoneedstoplayeverysinglethingonaddictinggames.com. We should be currently watching more Buffy , but alas, he is stuck on some lame RPG type ninja thing. As I am re-watching the episodes, I do miss the show, but I don't feel that longing I get when I re-watch Angel . I'm not sure if it's the lack of closure Angel fans got, or if it was actually a better show than Buffy . I think about Fred and Wes and Gunn, and even Cordelia, and I just want them to be together again, before my very eyes. I think about Buffy and Xander and Willow, and I just remember them fondly, nothing more. Granted, there are some episodes of Buffy that blow 90% of Angel episodes out of the water (the silent episode/musical episode) so maybe my Angel quotient was just not filled yet when it was wrenched away fro...

It's Small Beyond Expectation!

Sorry for my slacker-ness lately. I've been dreading this upcoming 5 day long lab run, as it always takes a lot out of me. With one subject staying it's usually okay. With two, it gets a bit tricky. Especially with our new system of screwing Andrew and I over by making us work 15 hr shifts. Other than that, everything has been going well. Scott moved his shoulder yesterday, which is awesome! I think that, in time, (probably a LONG time), he'll get most of the movement in his body back. Which is pretty cool. I got a Passport the other day for the first time. I'm now excited to go traveling around to random countries. Too bad I look like I'm 18 in my picture because they made me not smile and put my hair behind my ears (who CARES what peoples ears look like??). Valentine's Day was pretty cool. We didn't actually celebrate VD, but our 2 yr anniversary instead, which happens to be the same day. I wore my awesome California dress (which I will include ...

I Felt the Flaming Arrow of the Hunter's Kiss

Picture time (and there are a lot of them)! I'll put captions on some, but I don't feel like telling the long stories of the trip. The wedding in Long Beach was great, the San Diego Zoo was great, the sandcastle making outside our beach house was great, and the rest was just...the rest. I wouldn't recommend cramming 8 people (4 couples) on one floor of a house. I still love California though! The view the first night we were in Long Beach Mmmm Jamba Juice Mmmmm shots of wheat grass Mmmm organ juices...? Mike's head looking suspiciously photo-shop like in front of the Queen Mary Ah, corny couple pictures...more corny pictures to follow: So the tire spikes had pierced their feet, see? And they're suitably upset? Well... I was trying to be a good actress, but I had no help from my partners. So we tried again: And apparently I'm still in horrendous pain while they're...being tickled? After our feet shenanigans we went to dinner at a cute greek place Wine...

Brrrrrr it's cold in here (there must be some Clovers in the atmosphere)

I really wish that the furnace in our giant apartment wasn't 10 years old so our heating bill wouldn't be 300 dollars a month. And I really wish (only in this cold, dead winter) we didn't have so many goddamn windows, wood floors, and high ceilings. I repeat, brrr! I'm wearing a blanket around my shoulders as I type this, which is perfectly normal for me. When I got home from work tonight, I wore my winter hat and scarf around the house for 2 hours before I felt safe to take them off. Mike doesn't care about the heat like I do, but I get cold REALLY easily. Thin body + bad circulation = freezing all the time. And that's my rant about that. To give an update on my cousin's fiance (Scott), he's been moved to three different hospitals, each promising a neurology "expert". They all say the same thing, he'll never walk again, he may not live. However, he is mostly off the respirator and has had half hour conversations with Lauren. Appar...

Not the Blog You Wanted

After I wrote that entry last night my mom called and told me that my cousin's fiance was in a really bad car accident. Apparently he fell asleep driving, went into a ravine, hit a tree, and was lying in his car for 5 hrs before anyone found him. He was airlifted to some hospital near where he was (downstate) and he is now paralyzed from the neck down and on a respirator. The doctors don't give him much hope. My cousin is like a sister to me, and I was supposed to be maid of honor at their wedding this year. I haven't been able to talk to her directly, but I heard that she's just sitting at the hospital crying, and nothing else. I don't think she's eaten at all since it happened. I'm really just hoping he makes it out okay. The doctors say that even if he lives, he'll never walk again, but doctors have said that before and people have proven them wrong. Anyway, please keep him in mind, and in your prayers if you're religious. Thanks.

Owed: One Blog

Wow I really owe you guys a blog, huh? Well I have about an hour to shower and eat something before watching THE ORIGINAL (non-Jessica Alba version, thank god because she can't act to save her life...acchem sorry) Japanese version of The Eye . Edit: The Eye was Chinese, not Japanese....no new words for me I guess. Not a bad film, way to go Hong Kong! Speaking of Japan, I watched Kurosawa's Ran for the first time, and learned that my friend Olivia's last name means lord! (I try to learn one word of Japanese each time I watch something...I tried with Hong Kong films but I never have any idea if they're speaking Cantonese or Mandarin so I gave up) I also saw the movie at the movie theater, by myself. For the first time. Ever. Either Erica's growing up and becoming less self-conscious, or the Dryden is so indie and accepting that it doesn't matter. That's all you get for now folks. There will be many a picture of California to follow....some other time...
